MapleStory Idle RPG Weapons Guide – Ancient Weapons

Ancient Weapons are the highest weapon tier in MapleStory Idle RPG — powerful items that can’t be obtained through regular gacha draws. Instead, they must be forged through promotion and awakening. This MapleStory Idle RPG Weapons Guide breaks down exactly how the weapon system works, how to progress through each rarity tier, and what you need to unlock your first Ancient Weapon.

1. Weapon Rarity Tiers

Weapons are color-coded based on their rarity. Each tier boosts both your equipped stats and your overall Combat Power (CP) through Inventory Effects, even if the weapon isn’t equipped.

Rarity Color Tier Level
Basic Gray T7
Rare Light Blue T6
Epic Purple T5
Unique Yellow T4
Legendary Green T3
Mystic Red T2
Ancient Deep Blue T1 (Highest)

Note: Owning more weapons increases your CP passively. Don’t dismantle all your old weapons — each one adds small but cumulative boosts through inventory bonuses.

2. How Weapon Awakening Works

Under every weapon icon, you’ll notice a progress counter such as 0/5. This represents how many duplicate copies of that weapon you’ve collected.

When you collect five copies (5/5), you can Awaken the weapon. Awakening gives it a star level, and each star raises its maximum upgrade cap by 20 levels.

Awakening Level Caps

Stars Max Weapon Level
0 Stars 100
1 Star 120
2 Stars 140
3 Stars 160
4 Stars 180
5 Stars 200 (Eligible for Promotion)

Each star you gain not only improves the weapon’s raw stats but also significantly increases its CP contribution through the inventory effect.

3. Promotion System Explained

Promotion allows you to upgrade your weapon’s tier rank once it’s reached five stars.

Here’s the full promotion chain:

T3 → T2 → T1 (Ancient)

Example:

  • A T3 weapon (Legendary) can be promoted to T2 (Mystic) once it’s five-starred.
  • A T1 Mystic Weapon at five stars can then be promoted into an Ancient Weapon, unlocking the deep blue tier.

Key Rule

Ancient Weapons cannot be obtained from gacha.
You must earn them through this promotion process — awakening, enhancing, and upgrading lower-tier weapons step-by-step.

4. Leveling & Enhancement

Weapons can be leveled up to improve base stats and CP. To do this, you’ll need Weapon Enhancers — core upgrade materials that can be acquired through:

  • Dungeon Drops
  • Shop Purchases
  • Event Rewards

Enhancement consumes both Enhancers and Mesos, and it’s worth investing even in lower-tier weapons early on since every weapon adds to total CP through its inventory bonus.

5. Why You Should Upgrade All Weapons

Even non-equipped weapons matter. The Inventory Effect grants passive bonuses based on your entire collection, meaning that:

  • Every weapon you own (and level up) adds CP.
  • Awakening weaker weapons still contributes to your total power.
  • Promoting and leveling them increases your efficiency in both PvE and PvP.

It’s a slow but rewarding loop — more duplicates, more awakenings, and higher promotions all funnel into stronger overall CP growth.

6. Gacha Draws & Weapon Farming

You’ll acquire most weapons through the Weapon Draw (Gacha) system.

  • Draw tickets can be earned via gameplay or purchased with Diamonds.
  • Every draw contributes to your Stage Rate Level, improving odds for better-tier weapons over time.

While Mystic weapons can be drawn, Ancients cannot — they must be crafted through promotion.

Unlocking an Ancient Weapon in MapleStory Idle RPG is one of the game’s biggest milestones. It’s not about gacha luck — it’s about persistence, smart upgrading, and resource planning.

Work steadily through each weapon tier, awaken duplicates, and promote wisely. Every weapon you improve brings you one step closer to that glowing deep-blue Ancient masterpiece — and a massive leap in CP power.
