How to Get Demonic Pickaxe and Complete Quest in The Forge

The latest update finally adds a proper, legitimate way to access the Demonic Pickaxe room—no glitches required. A new NPC named Skal now handles the Demonic Key quest, and completing this short quest unlocks the door leading to one of the strongest pickaxes in the game.

The core steps are simple: find Skal, collect three Demonite, trade them for the Demonic Key, and then purchase the Demonic Pickaxe from the new area.

Where to Start the Demonic Key Quest

To begin, head to the locked door that originally required glitching to enter. On the left side of the door, a new cave has been added. This cave leads to Skal, the brand new NPC who gives you the Demonic Key quest.

Once inside, talk to Skal. He introduces you to the idea of “power,” and then immediately asks you for three Demonite in exchange for the Demonic Key.

You can choose not to give the Demonite and glitch inside instead, but the quest provides a clean and intended method to access the pickaxe.

How to Get Three Demonite for the Quest

Skal only wants one thing: three Demonite. This is the hardest part of the quest because Demonite is extremely rare. It comes from only one source:

Volcanic Rocks in the Volcanic Depths

To mine these rocks, you must use a pickaxe that deals at least 100 base damage, such as:

• Arcane Pickaxe
• Light Pickaxe
• Any other pickaxe meeting the damage requirement

Volcanic Rocks spawn randomly in the Volcanic Depths, so the process is all about consistency. Mine every volcanic rock you see until you gather three Demonite.

For efficiency, increase your luck by:

• Using higher-tier pickaxes
• Activating luck-boosting achievements
• Drinking luck potions

These do not guarantee Demonite but make drops far more manageable during long mining sessions.

Turning in Your Demonite to Skal

Once you have all three pieces, return to Skal’s cave. Talk to him again, submit the Demonite, and he’ll reward you with the Demonic Key.

After receiving it, walk back to the locked doorway and interact with it. The door will now open without needing any glitch or trick.

This grants full access to the Demonic Pickaxe chamber.

Buying the Demonic Pickaxe

Inside the newly opened room, you’ll find the Demonic Pickaxe available for purchase. It costs 500,000, making it a substantial investment, but its stats justify the grind:

• 180 Power
• 47.5% Luck
• Three Rune Slots

Compared to the Arcane Pickaxe, the biggest difference is its mining speed and overall efficiency in higher-tier zones. Many players have used it for a while through glitches, but now everyone can obtain it legitimately.

Is the Quest Worth Doing?

Absolutely. Even if you spent time glitching before, doing the quest unlocks clean access to the chamber and sets the pickaxe as an official progression step. For players who avoided glitches, this update completely opens up late-game mining.

The Demonic Pickaxe is one of the most powerful tools currently available, and upgrading from the Arcane Pickaxe feels like a meaningful jump in performance.
